Job Vacancies

We currently have the following vacancies in school;

Class Teacher

Class Teacher Post – Main Pay Scale

Burwell Village College Primary School is at an exciting time in its journey.  We are in the early stages of significant school development having completely restructured the way we deliver the curriculum and made a significant investment in staff development.  We are determined that the school will provide the best possible opportunities for pupils and teachers and therefore we have invested significant time and money into developing the best curriculum which allows pupils to make choices and take some ownership over what they are learning.  We have also given teachers more autonomy over what they teach and developed a strong CPD programme alongside this autonomy to support outstanding delivery.

We are looking for teachers who are outstanding practitioners or have the potential to be.  We need staff who are inspiring and motivating for pupils, able to think about learning and deliver it in an interesting and engaging way.  We have a strong support package for teachers, including joint PPA time giving opportunities to share ideas; strong, knowledgeable senior leaders who have time out of the classroom to focus on developing teaching and learning, and opportunities to create and refine our own curriculum. We would welcome applications from ECT candidates.

The children here are well-behaved, hard-working and eager to learn.  The facilities are fantastic with space and equipment readily available.  Parents are keen to support the school and are positive about the improvements already being made.

This is a brilliant opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of the over four hundred children.  If you really want to have a measurable impact on children’s life chances, Burwell could be the school for you.

If you would like to know more about the school, please contact the school office and ask to speak to the Headteacher.  We can arrange Zoom, Teams, Google meet or FaceTime conversations, as well as traditional phone calls.  Visits to the school are encouraged and we have COVID safe protocols in place.

Teaching Cover Post

Teaching Cover Post – 2 days per week (1 day Friday teaching KS1 and 1 day flexible cover within school)

Teacher Main Pay Scale

At Burwell Village College we believe that every child has the ability to succeed if we give them the right opportunities.  We have recently rewritten our curriculum to reflect the highest standards in all curriculum areas.  We are committed to staff development and we have therefore devised a timetable that allows us to release teachers to share practice, monitor outcomes and develop highly effective teaching and learning strategies.  In order to maintain this we need staff who are able to deliver identified curriculum content of Computing, RE, English and Maths on a Friday.  Alongside this we want to be able to increase the impact of leaders across the school by focusing their time on leadership tasks.  Finally, we know that children respond best to adults that they know and trust and therefore when staff are absent we want to be able to provide some continuity for them.  Utilising teachers as cover staff will allow us to ensure that pupils learning continues successfully through the year.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

18 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (term time)

HLTA Level 4 pt 12 NJC 2020 Currently (£22,183 annually, pro rata to £10,192.62)

At Burwell Village College we believe that every child has the ability to succeed if we give them the right opportunities.  We have recently rewritten our curriculum to reflect the highest standards in all curriculum areas.  We know that giving children support in areas they need is crucial to their success in life, making them believe that they can achieve anything.  This what our team of HLTAs does.  They give children the belief that they can succeed.  We want to strengthen this team further by bringing on board staff who can deliver and develop intervention packages that support all of our pupils.

Our HLTAs provide invaluable additional teaching and learning that allows pupils to access learning at a better level, supporting them to practice fundamental skills and support their well-being by developing their resilience alongside the class teachers.  HLTAs run a number of interventions across the week including Fast Track Phonics, Success at Arithmetic, ERT and SNIP spelling.  We are looking to add to these interventions over the next couple of years and particularly looking at speech and language support in key stage one.
